This Council ends in May and you as an elector in Gloucestershire elects a new County Council.
Over the last four years Council Tax was frozen for the first two years and raised in the last two with extra being raised for Social Services, a service under pressure with our population living longer (which is a good thing!)
Savings have been made over the last four years by reducing the number of employed and reducing the number of property's the council manages freeing capital to reduce debt and invest where it is most needed.
Broadband has been a mixed result where some areas have a good service and others (including most of my own village) having a poor service and negotiating with BT has been very difficult. This was meant to have all been delivered by now and it is disappointing that it has not and so it will be an ongoing problem that the new Council will face as Government talks a lot of warm words but rural communities are missing out and it is a need we have for rural areas to be competitive.
Brexit will bring some challenge but only time will tell in what areas. We have a different Prime Minister (which is probably another good thing!) and until we are a lot further down the line we will not know how it will pan out.
